Lady in Blue - EDGE

C’est en 1990 que le groupe se forme. Les six musiciens ont une passion commune, le rock mélodique (Giant, Europe, Malmsteen, MSG) Mais c’est en 1991 qu’apparaît le mouvement « Grunge », l’échiquier musical en sera profondément modifié. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, et autres Soundgarden prendront la place des dinosaures du melodic rock.

C’est dans ce contexte que sort en 1992 le maxi 5 titres «Lady in Blue ». Grâce à ce CD « Edge » remportera une certaine notoriété et tournera intensivement afin d’en assurer la promotion. Ils remporteront plusieurs tremplins et concours musicaux. La critique allemande réservera un accueil chaleureux à l’album, mais en 1995, le groupe las de ne pouvoir prendre le train du succès, se séparera.

Depuis, avec des sites tel que www.melodicrock.com ou des labels comme Frontiers Records (www.frontiers.it)  le hard rock mélodique a largement repris du poil de la bête. Et c’est en 2007 qu’un internaute s’amuse à faire circuler un mp3 de EDGE, le site de www.gora.ch sera littéralement assiégé par une horde de fans désireux d’acquérir le fameux « collector ». Quelque peu désemparé André et Thierry reprirent contact avec le reste du groupe afin de leur demander l’autorisation de mettre à disposition en libre téléchargement les morceaux que voici. L’emploi du temps de chacun ne permettant pas d’envisager une éventuelle reformation, la décision a été prise d’enregistrer quelques titres qui seront disponibles sur le site www.gora.ch courant 2008.

The 6 members of the band’s original line-up met one day of 1990, and, sharing the same passion for what was called « melodic rock", performed in these times, among others, by bands like Giant, Europe, Yngwie Malmsteen MSG etc…, decided to start playing together as a band.

However, in 1991, came the rise of a new movement, the so called “GRUNGE”, which deeply modified the rock world, sending Melodic rock dinosaurs to the outer space, for the benefit of bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains and other Soundgarden.

It is in this context that the freshly recorded Edge’s first CD “Lady in Blue” (5 tracks), went out to be distributed on the market. Thanks to this CD, Edge got relatively notorious and started touring intensively to promote their record.

Edge eventually won some music contests, and the record was warmly welcomed by the German critiques. But, in 1995, tired of not reaching to wider success, the band finally split up.

Nowadays, with the growing importance of the Internet in people’s habits of communication, and thanks to Websites like www.melodicrock.com , or to recording labels like Frontiers Records (www.frontiers.it), the Melodic rock has made a quite spectacular come back on the scene of the music world. Therefore, in 2007, just for the fun of it, an internet user eventually circulated an MP3 track of one of the tracks from the “Lady in Blue” album.

Surprisingly, the web site of  Edge’s ex-drummer and bass player band, Thierry and André,  www.gora.ch, got a great number of requests from Edge fans, wishing to acquire the CD.

A bit puzzled, Andre and Thierry, contacted the rest of the band, who were since the early days of the band largely spreaded around  in French part of Switzerland,  to request their authorisation in order to put on line for free downloading, the rest of the tracks from the album.

Though the current life of the ex-members doesn’t allow re-formation of the band, they have, however decided to record a bunch of new tracks which should be available for downloading on www.gora.ch Sometime during 2008.

In 1990 wurde die Band gegründet. Die sechs Musiker hatten eine gemeinsame Leidenschaft, Melodik rock (Giant, Europe, Malmsteen, MSG). In 1991 kommt eine neue Welle in der rock Umgebung. “Grunge”. Diese Welle wird die ganze Umgebung des Melodik rock umwerfen. Bands wie Nirvana, Alice in Chains, und andere Soundgarden werden den Platz der rock Dinosaurier wegnehmen.

In diesem Kontext kommt in 1992 die 5 Titel CD „lady in Blue“ auf dem Markt. Dank dieser CD wird EDGE eine bestimmte Aufmerksamkeit aufwecken und intensiv touren um die CD zu promotten. Sie werden ein Paar Musikalische Wettbewerbe gewinnen. Die Deutsche Kritik empfängt die CD sehr gut, aber 1995 wir die Band sich auflösen da der „große“ erfolg nicht da ist.

Seither ist Melodik rock dank Internet Seiten wie www.melodicrock.com oder Labels wie Frontiers Records (www.frontiers.it) wieder im Aufmarsch.

In 2007 hatte ein Internet Benutzer einen Titel von EDGE als Mp3 aufs netz gelegt. Seither wurde die Seite www.gora.ch von vielen Fans besucht die den « Kollektor » noch bekommen wollten. Ein wenig erstaunt haben André und Thierry mit den anderen Mitgliedern Kontakt aufgenommen um die Erlaubnis zu bekommen die Titel frei ins Internet zu legen. Die Agenda der verschiedenen Mitglieder wird es nicht möglich machen die Band wieder zusammen zu bringen. Der entscheid wurden getroffen ein Paar Titel aufzunehmen und auf der  www.gora.ch Seite in 2008 zu Publizieren.
